Wakefield property firm raise cash for Jane Tomlinson Appeal
A Forward Ladies event hosted by a Wakefield property firm has been a huge success, raising £500 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Magna Holdings Ltd, hosted the evening last week in conjunction with Forward Ladies, the regional ladies non-profit networking organisation, at their newly renovated, female friendly-development, the Charles Roberts office park in Horbury, Wakefield.
Around 65 women attended the event, where they were able to view fashion and beauty from local firms, network with regional businesswomen, enjoy a buffet and drinks and hear a short speech from Margaret Wood, Chair of First, Wakefield’s regional development agency. Margaret, whose own business ICW UK Ltd is also based in Horbury, commented on the success and growth of Forward Ladies, and how great it is to see the Charles Roberts Office Park, which was the former Bombardier factory, coming back into use.
A host of regional businesses were involved in the evening, including Christie Lea in Batley who brought along a sample of their latest ranges, and Harmony beauty salons in Horbury who were offering manicures to all the guests. Bodyline clinics in Leeds and Forever Living were also showcasing their products at the event.
All the businesses involved donated fabulous raffle prizes, which raised almost £200 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and Magna Holdings have topped the donation up to £500. Following Jane Tomlinson’s death last week, her appeal seemed like an appropriate cause for the proceeds of the raffle to be donated to.
Etta Cohen, managing director of Forward Ladies commented: “The event at Magna provided Forward Ladies with a superb environment in which to
meet like-minded business women whilst enjoying lovely food and viewing interesting stalls. All this and we raised money for a super cause. A great combination.”
Magna Holdings Ltd are hoping that the office park will be particularly attractive to businesses with female staff because of its 24 hour security, concierge service and on-site parking, which will reassure women who have to work late on an evening. The office park already has a number of tenants including Aolborg Industries and Pushmore Technology.
One of the female tenants who are currently in the office park, Hannah Wilkinson from Aolborg Industries commented: “As a woman, I understand the importance of feeing safe whilst at work. The Charles Roberts office park is set in a very peaceful and quiet area where people walk and take in the local scenery on a day-to-day basis. The grounds of the office park are very spacious with ample car parking. Upon arriving in the office park you are greeted by the gatekeeper who maintains security of the building and my vehicle has always remained secure outside my office. Living only 10 minutes from the office park also gives me the chance to often walk to the office which I am very happy and feel safe to do at any time during the day"
Further Forward Ladies events may be scheduled at other Magna Holdings developments in Keighley and Barnsley in the future.
The Charles Roberts office park is being let by Wakefield based agent Vickers Carnley who can be contacted on 01924 291500.
Local Landmark is thriving again
A Wakefield property development company is bringing the spirit of industry back to a local landmark
The Charles Roberts Office Park is starting to thrive again after standing empty for almost two years as its first influx of tenants create an entrepreneurial community
The site, formerly the Bombardier factory at Horbury Junction, was acquired by Magna Holdings Ltd earlier this year, and its refurbishment has got off to a great start.
The Charles Roberts Office Park was occupied by Bombardier, who refurbished railway and London Underground carriages, until their closure in 2005 saw the loss of 400 jobs.
Previously it was famous as the home of the Charles Roberts factory - the company which had the sole patent for building wooden railway carriages for the whole country and manufactured Churchill tanks in World War II.
However since the office park opened its doors in May, it has welcomed new tenants who are all helping to rebuild its industrial heritage.
Global company, Aalborg Industries moved into the office park in May, and they are delighted with their new premises. They build marine and industrial boilers, burners and gas control systems, with offices around the world including Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Stephen Faircliffe of Aalberg Industries commented of the office Park: “We chose the Charles Roberts Office Park because of its excellent location and because it was a very competitive price.”
Pushmore Technologies have also chosen to relocate to the Charles Roberts Office Park. The company, which specialise in providing IT/IS solutions, technical consultancy, implementation and system support for a national client base, relocated in June. The technical facilities at the office park were a major selling point for Pushmore as they were able to develop a customised IT system to suit their needs.
Sherring Lucas Dental Studio, also located to the office park in June and they have been very impressed with the facilities there. The firm produce high quality crowns and bridge work for dentists. Mr Lucas commented: “The Charles Roberts Office Park suited our needs perfectly, as it is a fully managed office with easy in, easy out terms. The range of companies here have created a great entrepreneurial community and it is fantastic to be a part of that.”
The office park boasts fully serviced, flexible office space with a concierge service and 24-hour security and car parking. Space ranging from 75-16,600sq ft is available immediately on the first two floors of the building, from £7 per square foot.
The site will be ideal for companies looking for affordable space to capitalise on the current economic growth of Wakefield following its accolade as Britain’s Best ‘Small City’ for Business. The Charles Roberts office park is situated in an excellent location at Horbury Junction with easy links to Wakefield city centre and the motorways.
The offices are being let by Vickers Carnley who are also based in Wakefield. For any enquiries please contact Lee Carnley on 01924 291500 or Magna Holdings on 01924 366600.
